As a child I loathed drinking milk so much that no amount of chocolate flavours or bournvitas could ever bring me around to drinking that piping hot white transparent glass given by my mother everyday before leaving for school. However, one fine day, while my dad was watching some news on TV, there appeared this commercial aired by NDDB with a very hummable, catchy tune of ‘piyo glassful doodh’. I got instantly hooked to this jingle and remember singing it to my friends at school as well. This very line, ‘garmi mein daalo doodh mein ice, doodh ban gaya very nice’ captured my attention in an uncanny manner and from the next day onwards, I started asking my mother to put some ice in a glass full of chilled milk, instead of a hot glass of the same, as per everyday ritual. I can’t forget my mother’s happiness because that’s precisely how I started having milk and haven’t stopped since. Theses days, flavoured milk is an everyday habit in the summers and no afternoon meal is complete without Mother Dairy’s mishti doi and chach!
